WfH: NCSC Safety Guide

As the pandemic has shifted many to home offices, it's crucial to manage cyber risks effectively. Here’s a summary of key strategies from the National Cyber Security Centre's infographic for secure home working:

1. User Accounts & Accesses: Robust passwords are the foundation of securing user accounts. Revisiting password policies and employing two-factor authentication can significantly bolster security.

2. Preparation for Home Working: Adapting to home working may require extending existing services or adopting new ones. Implementing cloud services and considering the creation of 'How to' guides for remote tech support are recommended. Encryption and device management solutions for securing data on personal devices should not be overlooked.

3. Access to Corporate Systems: VPNs are instrumental for secure remote access to IT resources. It's essential to ensure VPNs are properly set up and that employees are provided with comprehensive guidance on their use.

4. Device Management: Educating staff on the importance of updating software, handling devices securely, and reporting losses immediately plays a critical role in mitigating risks when devices are used both in and outside of the office.

5. Handling Removable Media: Limiting the use of USB drives and other removable media can reduce data loss and malware risks. If their use is necessary, ensuring they're managed through device settings and encrypting the data is essential.
